In the machining of forged surfaces with varying depths of cut, the competitor's tool failed due to chipping before completing the process.
The competitor's tool also used a square positive insert. In contrast, the flat top insert features a honed negative land geometry, providing a larger cutting edge cross-section and superior chipping resistance.
With no chipping and stable machining, tool life was extended by 1.5 times compared to the competitor's tool.
