DS2000-Transformer components-DS2005
IMPROVED MACHINED SURFACE and CHIP CONTROL
The customer was using DLC-coated grade inserts from competitor for machining of the external machining of oxygen-free copper, transformer components. However, not good chip evacuation led to increased machine downtime for chip removal, and chipping caused deterioration of the machined surface conditions, resulting in a shortened insert tool life.
Testing a combination of an AL breaker with superior chip evacuation and the latest DLC-coated grade insert, DS2005, revealed stable machining up to a machining constant of 300 units. Furthermore, chip evacuation was improved, resulting in a significant reduction in machine downtime.
