TungMeister – Plastic mold – AH725
IMPROVED PRODUCTIVITY AND TOOL LIFE
The customer had been using solid carbide end mills for plastic mold machining — a roughing end mill for roughing operations and a general-purpose 4-flute end mill for finishing.
To consolidate the roughing and finishing processes into a single tool, we tested the head-exchangeable end mill TungMeister equipped with the combination cutting edge VEE-C head.
By applying the VEE-C head, both roughing and finishing could be performed with one tool, successfully achieving tool consolidation.
In addition, the use of a high-rigidity shank suppressed vibration, improving machining efficiency to 1.5 times that of the conventional process.
