IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY AND TOOL LIFE
In parting off 27 mm hexagonal collars made of stainless steel 1.4404 on a Swiss lathe, the previous process suffered from unstable tool life and unpredictable insert changes, limiting productivity.
By switching to Tungaloy's TungCut system equipped with AH7025 PVD grade inserts—engineered for excellent wear and fracture resistance in stainless steel machining—the customer implemented constant cutting speed and optimized feed rates, resulting in stable performance.
As a result, the number of parts produced per cutting edge increased from a fluctuating 100–250 to a consistent 400 pieces, achieving more than 60% improvement in tool life and enhanced process reliability. Productivity was significantly boosted while ensuring much greater predictability in the manufacturing process.
