IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY AND TOOL LIFE
In the parting off of Inconel 718 shafts on a CNC lathe, the previous tooling setup struggled with both low productivity and rapid insert wear, which led to frequent tool changes and machine downtime.
Adopting Tungaloy’s TungCut system with grade AH8005—featuring a robust nano-structured PVD coating for outstanding wear resistance in superalloy machining—delivered remarkable improvements. Parts produced per cutting edge tripled and the productivity index nearly doubled compared to the prior solution.
This implementation achieved both significant tool life extension and a dramatic boost in operational efficiency.
